My SHEA BUTTER Mixture

I use to despise Shea Butter when I first became natural; I mixed very little to a balanced amount of oils etc <—Well so I thought, until just before I gave up totally on it, I made the best batch ever of all time and now I am reaping and enjoying the full benefits of this awesome butter.

Here is how I mix my Shea Butter, the ingredients and the end results, enjoy. Any questions comment below and I will do my best to help.

The ingredients:

100% Unrefined Shea Butter

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Pure Jojoba Oil

Pure Avocado Oil

Traditional Jamaican Black Castor OIl

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Apricot Kernel Oil

A Deep Bowl

You will also need you a Hand held Blender

A few containers to store your Shea Butter when the mix is complete; save those lotion containers, honey jars and Chinese take out soup containers. They serve their purpose.

Now, lets get to mixing, the perfect hair sealant fro ones kinky, coily, thick natural tresses.

Portion out the amount of Shea Butter you would like to whip up, there is about 250g of unrefined shea butter in the bowl below.

I always whip my Shea Butter until it’s creamy and smooth before I had any other ingredients to it. I do this as I find when I add my ingredients in afterward, the second whipping of the butter. The ingredients are blended in much better. The end results of the Shea Butter is creamy, smooth and fluffy,

After I my whipped my Raw Shea Butter to make it creamy I proceed to adding the rest of my ingredients as listed above. Unfortunately I do not measure, I eyeball according to the amount of Shea Butter I used and how creamy and smooth I desire the end results.

This is all my ingredients added to he Shea Butter and I am now getting ready to whipped/blended all the ingredients for a nice fluffy, smooth cake like frosting for the end results.

The end results, a nice creamy, smooth, fluffy cake frosting Shea ‘GOODNESS’ Butter for my hair.

I then proceed to jar up my mixture.

This large container, I store inside my fridge and when I need to top up my smaller container. I will take out, allow it to cool down some; which allows the butter to become soft again. Then I proceed to fill up my smaller container and then return the larger container to the fridge

This is my my small every day container of Shea Butter store outside the fridge. Enough to last me a week or so for my sealing.

  4. This look nice. You are not using any preservative in your mixture . You said you store it in fridge so I think it will preserve it a bit longer but what about your smallest jars dont you see Mould forming?

    1. You know I tend to add Vitamin E oil and for some reason I forgot it this trip >.<

I have not seen any mold on my smaller batch that I kept out. What I make sure I don't do is use wet hands/water/liquid getting in the smaller batch, that I use regularly. Water is what makes a lot mix goes off.

I think that is why I have not seen any mold as my mix is all oil based, no liquid/water. HTH

And thanks for stopping by hun :).

  5. Hi, this is such an inspiration!!!! I have been natural for 2 years now, but I always had full weaves, box braids, and twists. I am finally wearing it and taking the necessary steps to maintain it. But I recently went to Walgreens to buy all the oils, and conditioners. Do you know anything about "Raw Shea Butter Soap" by Shea Moisture??

  6. Great mixture...I only mix raw shea butter, coconut oil, olive oil, and a little glycerin. after I wash my hair, I rub this mixture thru out my natural hair, braid it, wrap it with a silk scarf and the next day it's as soft as cotton!

    1. You mixture so very moisturizing, especially by adding glycerin. I love glycerin, but I leave it for the warmer months.

But I love my shea butter mix, I even start adding some of it to my DC.
