Wash Day Session: Detox Meeee!

It’s that time of the week again, I am a little late on delivering last weeks wash session, so you will be getting two wash session in one go this weekend. ‘WASH DAY’ [25 August 2013]

P8241511

I am going to be doing a few things this weekend, I just realized I have not done a bentonite clay (detox) on my hair over 6 months now. It is way overdue. I like to try and do one very 2-3 months, to keep my scalp and hair free from build up and coating from the non-natural products I use.

[pic & link to reviews] Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo, Bentonite Clay & Crece Pelo.

I also do my clay sessions some what a little different, i tend to lie to do a light shampoo first. Preferable with a sulfate free shampoo. I do this out of habit and prefer the results I get when I lightly shampoo and then detox than putting the clay on top of any gunk/grease/butter etc that may have accumulated. I prefer to use the clay to detox than to use as a a cleanser. Although I still get some cleanse.I prefer the outcome this way > shampoo > then clay > then DC <.

I lightly shampoo with the elucence moisture benefit shampoo, I only ever lather up once.

This is how I mix my bentonite clay detox treatment, nothing fancy, simple and to the point.

Bentonite Clay
Aloe Vera Juice [balances the pH from pH9 – pH4.5]
Water
Citronella EO
Lemongrass EO

[note] Do not use any meal utensils to mix the clay, his I learn from my previous sessions. Metal utensils as this may affect the effectiveness of the clay. Use plastics, glass and wooden utensils.

Bentonite Clay applied throughout hair and unto my scalp, will leave on for some time as i need a deeeep detox.

Clay all wrapped up after application, do not allow the clay to dry out on your hair as it will prove hard to rinse out and may cause your hair to break off when it dries unto your hair and scalp. Cover your hair with a shower cap /  grocery bag to hep hold in the moisture and throw a beanie on or a scarf and let the clay does its thing.

I left the clay on for a few hours as I am in need of a good deeeeep detox on both my hair and scalp. I then rinse thoroughly with warm water, ensuring all the clay is rinsed clean from both my hair and scalp.

Also you do not have to leave the clay on for as long as I did you can leave it on for at least 20-30mins and you should get good results.

A close up shot after the clay was rinsed clean my hair and scalp. It leaves and nice, light and clean feeling to both my scalp and hair. Love this stuff.

After rinsing out the bentonite clay I proceed to DC and steam. I decide to use this DC I have sitting in my stash, I‘ve used it 1-2 times prior to this and have gotten good results on both occasions . I apply the DC [crece pelo] [full review of this DC to follower] through my hair and gentle detangle with my hercules comb.

As you can see from the pics after application and steaming for 30mins this DC has aDsorbed unto the hair, it is not a DC that just sits on top. It does leaves a nice soft, smooth feel to the hair. Only down side to it you have to be in the mood for the smell. So I rarely use it. nevertheless, full review to follow ASAP.

I then moisturized and seal with the following goodies.

My spritz mix [d-panthenol vitamin B5]
Hairveda Whipped Gelly
My Shea Butter Mix

The end results, a twist out that was soft, shiny and moisturized.

    1. Annette Akye, sorry for the late reply.
I use warm medium to help to get the clay smooth. So whatever you use to mix your clay; warm it up and mix well and that should help with getting your mix smooth.

Another option is to add a tablespoon or two of any oil of your choice to the mix that will help to smooth the clay out some. HTH Again apologies for the tardy reply.
